There are two sides to every medal and both systems have their unique strengths and weaknesses. Let’s look at their pros and cons side by side:

Pneumatic Process Street
ProsDesigned to be 3x more affordable for growing startups

White-glove onboarding support

A great user experience with a user interface designed with the CEO/COO in mind targeted at fast-growing startups that need to minimize onboarding time.

An intuitive workflow template builder that allows you to build your first template and run your first workflow in minutes.

Built from the ground up for workflow management — no checklist legacy.

Designed from the start to play well with other systems, even the free plan comes with a public API.

Super competitive pricing.
Native Slack, Google Sheets and Jira
Integration

Native recurring scheduled workflows

Groups and roles

Guest users

A mature system with a host of features
found in your typical enterprise solutions. In Process Street, workflows are built as a
natural extension of checklists, which makes them very intuitive.
ConsCurrently lacking are the following features,
but they are in development:
native Slack, Google Sheets and Jira Integration, native recurring scheduled workflows, groups and roles.

Guest users are only allowed to start workflows using publicly shared workflow kick-off forms. They are not able to participate in workflows: comment, approve, etc.

Pneumatic is a relatively new system that can at times feel a bit rough around the edges.

It currently has more features in the roadmap than it does in production.
Less personal touch and more expensive

Limited Integrations

Email-only support

While building workflows as checklists may make them easier to understand, it also limits them.

Process Street advertises enforceable order of tasks as a separate feature.

The Bottom Line

As of the time of this writing, Pneumatic’s Premium Plan is offered at less than half the price of Process Street’s Pro Plan. Both systems offer more or less the same core functionality when it comes to workflow management. There are four principal features that you find in Process Street but not in Pneumatic: guest users, pages, group and roles, and scheduled workflows.

Pneumatic offers unlimited integration support so you can still schedule workflows in Pneumatic via Zapier or Make. Group access control is in development as are guest users. There are no “pages” in Pneumatic and no plans to add this feature.

So what the choice between the two systems boils down to is whether or not you’re willing to pay twice as much for pages and scheduled workflows?
